I just attempted to make cheesecake for the very first time…it’s nerve-wrecking I tell you! Sue Anne and I have been choosing cheesecake recipes and the genius in me so happened to pick on the non-bake ones…because it’s…well, non-baked furthermore, the oven in my house is rather temperamental and I don’t want to mess with it. If it’s an experiment, I wouldn’t mind being adventurous but it’s for someone’s birthday. If it’s my birthday, it’s alright cos I don’t mind eating my own ‘masterpiece’.
So I did a simple lemon cheesecake pie. The recipe was…simple. Easy peasy, nothing extremely fancy except the cream cheese. I even added gelatin so that the cheese mixture would set since some have commented that the mixture is rather runny. I popped the pie crust and the cheese mixture into the fridge and wait for 8 hours.
IT DIDN’T FRIGGIN SET AFTER 8 HOURS!
Add lemon juice for the mixture to set they say…add lemon juice they say. Why, Nanna’s favourite cheesecake recipe they say.*squints in frustration*
Not only that…Sam took my pie plate the other day and silly me didn’t check. I was getting ready to make the cheesecake and TO MY HORROR, my cheesecake pie doesn’t have a pie plate to rest on! NO PIE PLATE FOR THE CHEESECAKE PIE…AHHHHH!
Ok…no pie plate, compromise lor. Springform pan would do…just that it might spill. Gah, what the heck, I have no choice but to take the risk over cheese mixture dripping out ><
Then ULTIMATE HORROR was when I took out the springform case…THE STRAWBERRY TOPPING splattered and well, I don’t need to say the rest. There is still topping one the cake…it’s just that the sides just spilled out, it was just messy la! I was cleaning up the kitchen and it does seem like a murder scene. The colour of the topping does resemble blood.
Well, well…at least the people liked the cake.
It was all worth it.
